Upon graduation from the University of Georgia, I became an insurance agent with Georgia Farm Bureau. Even though I earned a degree in insurance, I quickly realized there was a lot to learn, especially the importance of customer service and having a relationship with your clients.
Farm Bureau was a great learning opportunity which led me to my next career in commercial insurance with a multi-line agency. My eyes were opened up to a new world of being able to work with numerous insurance companies in order to find the best coverage for my clients. It was great to no longer be restricted by one insurance company.
I’ve always been the type of man who likes to blaze his own path, so working for someone else wasn’t something that I was suited for. As a result of my independent streak, I decided to strike out on my own and began my own agency in January of 2010. Several months later I persuaded Julie to join the agency and together we are learning the ropes to owning a business.
One of my greatest supporters has always been my beautiful wife, Amy, because without her encouragement I doubt I would have struck out on my own. We have two charming daughters, Kate and Maribeth. It’s great to live in your hometown and your children go to the same school that I attended. Stop by and see us – one of us is always here while another one of us may be helping with our kids’ carpool schedules.
